Getting a ticket with a rental 2 Years, 12 Months ago Karma: 0
I had twice the experience of getting a ticket while driving a rental. It happened in Europe, and both times was excess speed on slower areas. Both times the ticket was 15 Euros, but I ended up paying 40 Euros because the rental company charges 25 Euros for "processing" the ticket! They just forward the ticket and the bill for processing it. You have to send the money to pay for the ticket! Has any one had that experience before?

My only experience with a ticket in a rental was a local parking ticket, which I took care of. I would have had to pay more if it came back to the rental company.

I realize your situation may be more complicated if you didn't live in the area, but could you have paid it yourself and saved some money?

I have been fairly lucky. I have rented vehicles for travel, twice in my lifetime and never got ticketed, even though I probably should have!

It was absolutely impossible, because I got the tickets from cameras taking the picture of the car going over the speed limit, so they send the ticket to the rental company once they process the "picture"

Once we met a couple on vacation and my wife kept in touch with them.

We found out that when they got home, the man had to pay over $1,000 in outstanding traffic or parking tickets before he could leave the airport.

So I like to try to keep whatever tickets I have paid up, expecially if they were to involve another country. I just wouldn't want to complicate crossing borders.
