antibacterial cleaners on cruise ships 5 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I recently was on the NCL Pride of America and I noticed that at the entrance of almost every public room there was a container of anti-bacterial gel hand cleaner. I thought it was interesting and I guess that since there has been several bacterial illness outbreaks on cruise ships in the last few years, it makes sense. But I never saw anyone use them and it kinda creeped me out thinking about it.

I am wndering if anybody else has seen these and what they think of them.

Hum... what a great idea! I'm currently in nursing school and antibacterial hand clear is everywhere you look... I've really gotten in the habit of using it. With the outbreak of all kinds of illnesses on these cruise ships, antibacterial hand cleaner is a great idea! Hopefully more people will start to use it.

that actually seems like a good idea, with so many people crammed in to such a small place doing anything at all like this seems smart.

I to think this is an awesome idea. You are in such a confined space that anything that would help lessen the spread of germs is a great idea. I usually carry some with me just in case they don't have them though.

I agree with the others, this does indeed seem the perfect place for these.

I work for a hospice and carry anti-bacterial hand gel with me everywhere I go. In my purse, in my car, in my overnight bag...I've even got some sitting on my desk here at home!

Since cruise ships are basically self-contained cities, and infections can spread through them pretty quickly, I think it makes perfect sense to make the anti-bacterial gel so available to passengers. As any nurse will tell you, the first step to preventing infection is good handwashing.
