Has anyone stayed in a castle or a fort or a palace that has been now converted to a hotel? I have stayed in one or two and the experience was really surreal...it seems like you arel iving in the past....
Tell me about your experience....

I styayed in a converted barn once, and I loved it. I had a sky light and a view over a valley.

I stayed in a fort that was about 300 years old. It had all the underground passages and alleys that we hear of....there were trees withing the fort that were as old as the structure and the rooms to had walls that were the original rocks....the experience was totally amazing...

I just thought of an even better one. I once worked on the restoration of a castle and the volunteer team was housed in the ruins of the castle of rthe duration of the project. It was eerie to be in a castle at night, and strange to see it lit with modern lighting.

That sounds interesting LYnsdey, which Castle was it? I love Castles me. Hubby and I are both members of EnglishHeritage, and we are often out over the weekend exploring some castle or another.

Hi Stav,
I was part of the Sabranenque team of volunteers. They work in Provence, restoring historic buildings and fixing the local village infrastructure as well.
