I'm sure that China has a fascinating culture, but I would be a little concerned over some of their health regulations.

Even in their exports, the lead levels can be dangerous, and we seem to just be hearing about all of the infant deaths from the tainted milk problem.

I think sometimes part of our hesitant reaction comes from the different cultures. For example, I was at a very nice Chinese wedding reception meal, and was surprised to see that the head was included on the plate of deep fried chicken.

And you're right about the health concerns in China right now... they weren't going on yet more than a year ago when this thread was started, I think.

The world is getting more and more strict with China concerning the presence of lead and other health issues, like the recent milk problem with infants.....
But then the Chinese are basically very hard working and no one can deny the amount of chinese products that have flooded the markets from electronics, clothing, to even tooth brushes.....

It was interesting to read about the trip to China, the traffic sounds scary. It would be an interesting place to visit but I would be concerned about the pollution.
