The organization that is recognized by the travel industry for travel agent certification is The Travel Institute (http://www.thetravelinstitute.com/). That is the only place to become a real recognized travel agent. They maintain certified training programs all over the country. Stop by the website for more information.

If you are really interested in selling cruises, you do not need to become a certified travel agent. You can be certified by the Cruise Lines International Association - CLIA specifically for selling cruises. Their training programs are available at various presentations around the country all year long. Their website is located at http://www.cruising.org/

Hope this is helpful to you. Stay away from any other organizations that say that they can make your a "real" travel agent. Any other programs than these will not be recognized as legitimate by suppliers in the travel industry.

Wow that is some good information. (if it's true) As they're seems to be quite a few jobs these days in the travel and tourism fields and I was under the impression you'd just be trained by the company that hires you, so an institute that's recognized would be a huge step forward in making it.
