I am assuming you mean India? If you are, the absolute best place to go to get the scoop on planning anything to India is the Official India tourism board site at:

That being said, unless you are young, energetic and very willing to do a lot of research and accept a certain amount of risk, I would highly recommend finding a package tour company that will get you around the country and to the sites you want to see. India is a very intense country with a large area and a lot to see and do, but with an tourism infrastructure that are not be up to the levels that Americans are used to. Plus package prices to India are a real bargain compared to the time spent planning, researching and booking it yourself, with a lot less surprises.
