Civic Stadium is home to the Eugene Emeralds, a class A minor league _base_ball club. If you want to see young guys with the dream of major league in their eyes playing with heart and passion, this is the place for you. The stadium, however, is an attraction in itself. Built in 1938, this is one of the last original wooden minor league ball parks in existence.
The ambiance is small-town summer night _base_ball. People meet to cheer lustily for their Emeralds, but they also meet friends, gossip, laugh, and eat all the regulation ball park snacks, have a beer, relax and have fun. There are grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, burritos, excellent ice cream, and also decent veggie burgers and veggie burritos (this is Eugene, after all; home of the U of O).
Even those who could care less about _base_ball can spend a glorious night here; the sunset playing among the pines over the South Hills is a magnificent sight to see. If you are in Eugene, you should definitely check this out. The price is right with ticket prices under ten dollars. You can opt for funky shoulder-to shoulder bench seats, or go a little more comfortable with reserve seats. The stadium seats 6800, so tickets are usually on sale up until game time.
