I am the type of person that really enjoy going too small towns. It always feels so homey, and you can usually find some really good food at there local resturaunts.

Something else I've found is that more often than not, along with the great food at those little mom and pop places comes *huge* servings. Not that I mean that's a good thing but often the two things go hand in hand.

When I travel, I always try to check the local restaurants, almost never the chain restaurants. Besides, it is the feel of different flavors that are new and exciting what I always look for. And I try always to eat something I've never eaten before.

That was the best part about Lexington. It's not there anymore, but there used to be this awesome vegan restaurant that i would visit when i first moved, and i eat meat. The best part about those local restaurants though, is the food that is particular to the area that is served. Applebee's is the same everywhere, but only in Kentucky can you get Derby pie or a Hot Brown =)

This is what I do, too. In fact, that's how I first tasted shark... it was on a buffet and I didn't bother to look at the food name card so I thought it was chicken.

You're right about that, the servings definitely outweigh the price. Real bargains!

I've eaten at many of those diners that serve more than enough for two people. I've never had the nerve to order one plate and two forks so my daughter and I can share... that's a shame 'cause we have to leave half of it on the plate. Maybe I should get over that and start doing it.
