2011 List Of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations
Thursday, 17 February 2011
The 2011 list of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations has now been released by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This is the 12th year that the list has been compiled and published and the criteria for inclusion in the list are the cultural and recreational experiences these locations offer visitors. The destinations of 2011 will give travelers experiences that range from the Wild West to the Smokey Mountains, from the vineyards of California to turn-of-the-century historical architecture.

The 12 destinations that have made this year's list include Alexandria, Virginia; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dandridge, Tennessee; Eureka, California; Muskogee, Oklahoma; New Bedford, Massachusetts; Paducah, Kentucky; San Angelo, Texas; Saint Paul, Minnesota; Sheridan, Wyoming; and Sonoma, California. When visiting these destinations, travelers will experience a mixture of old world charm and modern amenities, American history and the beautiful and scenic landscapes that make this great country what it is.
