Colliers PKF Hospitality Research (PKF-HR) has forecast a good upcoming year for the U.S. lodging industry. This is in light of the increased demand for hotel rooms within the U.S. something that is allowing the industry to bounce back from economic hardship. This announcement comes in the December 2010 issue of Hotel Horizons PKF-HR forecasts, which estimate a 7.8% growth in demand for lodging within the U.S. In fact, this forecast has improved significantly since the September issue. Since there is only an estimate 2% increase in the supply of hotel accommodations, the result is a net increase of 5.7% in occupancy. Leading the way are the major market hotels and by the end of the year the hotels that reside in the 50 American cities that make up the PKF-HR Hotel Horizons group are estimated to experience a 6.4% increase in lodgings. This is 0.8% higher than the overall increase for the lodging industry. |
