Hey, everyone!

I have a friend in Columbus who would like to come visit me, or have me come to see her, but airline rates are about $300/round trip. Not remotely affordable for either of us right now.

Can anybody suggest any decent bargains? Right now, we're looking at late spring, although fall would be all right, too.

not sure if it would work, but we live near Chicago and we always take the train when we visit my family in KC. It dumps us right in Union Station.

That's a good thought. I could easily pick her up from there. With prices what they are, maybe it's time to give up on flying and look at some alternate transportation.

We've also talked about picking a halfway point and each driving or flying to meet there, but frankly there just isn't that much between KC and Columbus--it's all sort of nebulous plains states.

My friend and I had a great visit last September, but unfortunately, we won't be able to do it again. She informed me that Skybus went under a few weeks ago. I was sorry to hear it, but not surprised. I have no idea how they were able to stay open as long as they did offering such low rates.
