Just a note here in case someone here doesn't already do this. Don't forget to research your destination online when you're about to travel.

I'm currently doing that for our road trip in a few months. I am constantly amazed at the coupons I can find when I take the time to pull the hotels, attractions, and restaurants up and then check to see if there's a "coupons and discounts" section on the website.

It's also great to know what particular restaurants serve, the prices, directions, and so on.

I take off my hat to someone as organised as you are, Katharina. You'll be reaping the benefit as you travel, and perhaps have some left over for putting in the next vacation's travel fund!

Congratulations... I too believe that the best you can get out of a trip is to find out all over what and how can you save. After all, the more money you save getting there, the more you have to buy or spend there.

Yes... and with gas prices as they are, it's become a necessity for most people anyhow. It's not just a little bit of money, either... some places offer really great deals.

Thanks, mollyL... funny thing is that I'm *not* an organized person in most areas... far from it. But for trips I think I've had enough disappointments to make me want to be sure everything is all planned out.

The coupons I find online are truly helpful. They can be for half off a meal or $20 off a hotel stay per night... sometimes it's like $5 off a certain admission. If it's "per person" that one alone saves the three of us $15, so definitely worth the time put into it.
