When looking for good air fares, start early and don't be in too big of a hurry to make a deal. Airfare prices can change literally by the hour and vary tremendously from one site to another.

If the rates you're finding are unacceptable, visit at least two or three discount sites every day and check their rates. My sister saved almost a thousand dollars on a flight to Ireland doing this, and I once saved $500 on a flight to Vegas.

Just remember, if you start early and check persistently, you can make some great deals!

Those are great tips! Also, remember to check for hidden fees. SOme discount sites end up costing you more because of fees.

You are absolutely right! I've always been lucky enough to plan ahead and find extraordinary bargains in travel. Unfortunately this time around has been hard, because my sister wants to travel in August, when everything is so expensive! I usually travel the week before thanksgiving, and return after thanksgiving... perfect time for vacation and so cheap!
