The Department of State will be hosting its 3rd Annual "Passport Day in the USA on Saturday, April 9. On this day U.S. citizens can apply for a passport book or card without an appointment at any of the passport agencies throughout the country. These include regional passport agencies as well as post offices and clerks of court. The newest agencies will also be open on this day, including those in El Paso, Texas; San Diego, California; and St. Albans, Vermont. The Saturday will see extended Sunday hours and all those who will not be traveling within the 14 days after applying can seek regular or expedited processing of their application. Families need to be aware that children's passports expire every five years and that in order for an application to be made for a child, the child and both parents must be present. If one parent cannot attend that parent must submit a notarized “Minor Consent” form. Please visit the Department of State website for more details. |
