I am the type of person that doesn't care about "fashion", so that doesn't bother me,

I am more interested in practicality, being easy to carry, having wheels, that sort of thing. I think very expensive luggage is pointless, buy for ease of use as long as you are happy with the quality.

I don't know really.. I've had cheap luggage and i've had expensive luggage. It turns out that the more expensive, and better made luggage lasts longer and protects the contents better.

Then again sometimes designer brand luggage is all about looks and not practicality.

I remember my mom having a bag that she bought when she was getting married and beleive it or not...it is still quite sturdy although not that jazzy to look at from the outside...and it is not branded....but works even after 40 years or so of purchase.

I don't think that things made today last in the same way that they used to. My mum still has a couple of suitcases (not especially expensive when bought) that are very old but still perfectly functional.

Same here for me... some things I'm all about the newest fashions, but in luggage I could care less. If it gets me to where I'm going and doesn't break open scattering my belongings around, I'm happy with it.

I see that I answered this a year ago and yes, I know I'm quoting myself, but I have a different answer now. After not caring about it before, I went ahead and bought some designer bags for our upcoming trip. I have to say that they seem to have much better construction than the less expensive things I've bought in the past and they're certainly nicer to look at.
