i am myself not a very brand concious person but yes, if I am buying something that i need to last really long, and something that should be sturdy and efficient, I do prefer a good brand no matter what the cost. The price of the same _style_ will definitely reduce in the coming years and why should I regret it...

Then you have plenty of time! Just do some research, specially online, and check out the prices. Amazon will get prices very low right after thanksgiving... maybe that can be a gift for yourself.

I must say that I think price usually does make a difference when it comes to luggage. While prices may vary in different stores, I think the nicer luggage, the more durable luggage that is, will always cost you more than the generic store bargain.

I used to look for bargains and purchase cheaper luggage, but it ended up costing more in the long run because it wasn't as well-made and had to be replaced sooner. Now I wait for liquidation sales on high-end items -like Boxing Day sales.

I do sometimes buy hand baggages from a store where I know the owner personally and also that their products although not branded are quite durable and sturdy....
