Durable luggage? 5 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Anyone have any good recommendations for some solid luggage? I tend to buy some really cheap stuff and it's usually not that pretty when I get it back after a long flight. I once got my suitcase back with a huge gaping hole in it!

While nothing is a durable as the suitcases used to be, a good rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for. If you buy the cheapest suitcase in the store, it will not hold up.

That's true! You get what you pay for! If you are a frequent traveller, it is worth buying a good piece of luggage that will last for long time. I invested in 2 Samsonites that really have been amazing. One of them gave as much as it could! After 20 years I can't really take it anymore because if it gets hit, it might get open, even if it's locked. The other I am still using it all the time. And I travel at least 3 times a year from Berlin to Barcelona in Spain.

We too have had very good luck with Samsonite. That being said, even Samsonite makes "lesser" quality stuff as well as their higher end items.

As someone else said, you get what you pay for.

When spending the big $$ on luggage, think of the long run, not how much its costing at the time of purchase. If you choose quality, you may never have to purchase new travel bags ever again...
