Katharina...your cat seems to be one lucky pet...there are not many owners who would consider so much to be done for their pet...I have seen some really bad owners like our previous neighbors...who left their dog outside when they had to go somewhere for a few hours....it seems cruel actually.

Sorry if this is going off topic a bit, but does anyone have any suggestions to help a cat that gets very badly travel sick. Starving him doesn't help. He is sick within a mile of leaving home, so it makes it very hard to go to the vet with him. The vet can't prescribe anything for him.

We have a cat who can't control his bladder when we take him places, it's not so much travel sickness, but nerves.

We try and make him as comfortable as possible when we have to take him to the vet, and of course put down a lot of old towels as a cushion for him that we replace after we get to the vet.

Have you tried putting him on the front seat and turning the carrier towards you so he can see you? This seems to help with our cat, also a little lite music on the radio may help too.

The new kitty carrier we bought recently is bigger than I'd like but it made a such a difference! The sides are all open wire and she can see all around including my daughter in the back seat beside her.

The old carrier was a lot of heavy plastic and although she could see out, the view couldn't have been very great.

Thanks for the advice, I will try facing the carrier so he can see me. I talk to him and try to reassure him while I am driving. I use puppy training pads in the carrier, I can just pull the pad out bag it and put it in the bin and put another pad in. It is incredible how much one average size cat can contain!

I'm afraid I can't help with advice for kitty car-sickness. Our little girl was always really good with that. She got sick only once and we found out that it was because she needed to use the litter box and didn't want to go in the carrier.
