I just saw this site... and thought it might be helpful to some:

Lowergear.com, takes rental orders online and by phone for items as diverse as GPS devices, bear canisters and tents. (To rent a basic GPS device costs $25 for three days; some places sell them for about $300.)

The products are all shipped by UPS and include a self-addressed return label to make shipping easy.

I never thought about renting camping gear. That is a pretty neat idea. I am going to check out what they have to rent.
