Risk of volcanic eruption in Ireland means airlines being warned of possible flight disruption

Airlines which use European airspace have received a warning from Iceland’s Met Office about a possible volcanic eruption. The office changed the threat level for an eruption to orange, which is rated a four out of five on the scale of threat. This brings to mind the chaos brought about when the country’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted in 2010. The ash cloud that resulted closed down most of the airspace in Europe for almost a week. It cost $1.7 billion and affected over 10 million people.

Jail time for woman who tried to sneak onto flights

A jail term of 177 days has been imposed on a woman after she violated her probation terms by going back to LAX. Marilyn Jean Hartman was ordered to stay out of airports after she got onto a Southwest Airlines flight without a ticket. The woman was able to fly from San Jose to Los Angeles before anyone noticed. The judge ordered Ms Hartman stay out of airports unless she had an actual ticket.
