Philippines plans tracking system over South China Sea

Philippines officials plan to install a million-dollar satellite-based tracking system to keep track of commercial flights over the South China Sea after China landed its first test flights on a reef built in the Spratly islands. The country's increasing military presence in the Spratlys has made officials in the Philippines feel it could turn into an air defense zone that China controls. This is one of the most volatile areas of the world.
False alarm causes emergency disembarkment on a Montego Bay-to-London flight

Late Friday, passengers were forced to disembark from their flight before taking off from Montego Bay, St. James after fire was reportedly seen onboard. The flight was headed to London. Airport officials said over 400 passengers were evacuated the Virgin Atlantic flight. The commercial director at MBJ Airports Limited, Sitara Byfield, said “The problem was caused by a faulty switch in the aircraft. This is what triggered the alarm.” Byfield went on to say it was a false alarm.
Flights canceled due to Storm Clodagh

High winds caused by Storm Clodagh resulted in delays in outbound flights and diversions to other airports for inbound flights at Cork airport Monday. Kevin Cullinane, the Head of Communications at the airport, said “This has led to a number of delays on Ryanair flights, all morning flights with Aer Lingus regional to the UK have been cancelled, flights in and out of London City airport with City Jet this lunchtime have been cancelled. The airlines are hoping to operate their evening schedules.”
