Jet Fuel Tax Eliminated for International Flights in B.C.

In an attempt to implement a new aviation strategy, the B.C. government has eliminated the jet fuel tax on overseas flights. The goal is to promote B.C. as the preferred gateway to the Pacific, and in turn, increase the number of jobs in the industry. The elimination of the jet fuel tax is just the first in a series of steps that will help B.C. make the province more alluring to overseas airlines and allow the province to compete with the likes of Washington, California, and Alberta.

Flights to Fiji Rescheduled Due to Tropical Cyclone

With Tropical Cyclone Evan wreaking havoc on Fiji, all Air Pacific flights to Apia, Samoa have been rescheduled. The airline issued a statement in which they have advised their passengers that all flights to and from Apia have been rescheduled for later on Sunday, December 16. The new schedule will have all flights from Nadi departing at 1:25 pm and arriving in Apia at 4:16 pm.

U.S. Airlines Adding Internet to Overseas Flights

Airlines in the U.S. already allow passengers to access the internet above 30,000 feet in the U.S., but now they will be adding the service on flights across the oceans, too. On Wednesday, the three biggest airlines in the country, Delta, United, and American, announced that they are just weeks away from offering internet service on their international flights. Email, basic web browsing, and the streaming of movies and television shows will all be possible on the international systems.
