AirAsia X Doubling Flights to Tokyo

AirAsia X will be doubling the number of flights from Kuala Lampur to Tokyo, starting on March 23. The airline currently has three daily flights on the route and will increase it to six daily flights in an effort to meet the growing demand in the Asia-Pacific region. The goal of the increase in flights is to its core market in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Australasia.

Southwest Cutting Back in Tampa

Southwest Airlines has announced plans to cut 12 flights from the Tampa International Airport (TIA). The cuts will take place August 12, 2012 and are just the beginning of what the airline is calling a major adjustment of their service since merging with AirTran. The focus in the future will be on long-haul flights as spokesperson for the airline, Brad Hawkins, said that most of the passengers who fly with Southwest take long-haul flights.

Bi-Weekly Trips to Libya with French Airline

French airline Aigle Azur will begin offering bi-weekly flights from Paris to Tripoli in March, according to president of Aigle Azur, Arezki Idjerouidene. Idjerouidene says they have been making plans for the route since 2009 and now he has sent a formal request to the Libyan civil aviation authority, asking for air traffic rights in Libya. This was granted and written confirmation is forthcoming.
