Some are patently obvious (get a transit card and use the London Underground and city buses, for example), but others provide ways of stretching your money that you may not have thought of on your own.

Walt Disney World You know, kids aren’t the only ones who love Disney theme parks. Sure, a lot of the experience is aimed squarely at the tots, but a lot of us head for the Magic Kingdom each year with nary a child in tow.

But don’t take our word for it. An excellent piece in the Los Angeles Times titled “Disney for Grown-Ups” (http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-trw-trvmain1-wk1 ) recently shared some of the great experiences that the over-18 set can enjoy at Walt Disney World – and “have a few drinks at the hotel, go back and get dizzy on the Mad Tea Party ride” didn’t even make the list.

Green Hotels Go Mainstream

Image For travelers who want to “go green” as much as possible, a mere non-smoking room isn’t enough. And the hospitality industry is taking notice, advertising rooms that are free of chemicals and decorated with sustainable materials.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has announced plans to go even further, seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for their Element extended-stay properties. LEED certification from the US Green Building Council is only granted to building that meet strict standards for sustainable architecture.
