Luggage For Ladies
Wednesday, 05 December 2007
Luggage Do women have different luggage needs than men? It may have seemed so at one time, with women having to wrangle a purse and all their children’s stuff along with a suitcase. But now that men carry laptops, PDAs, cellphones and countless other accessories – and women have learned to hand off the kids’ stuff to their spouse – it seems a little backwards to claim that women have special requirements when it comes to their baggage.

The massive terminal, whose design was inspired by New York’s Grand Central, offers a variety of shops, bars and restaurants, including a daily farmer’s market and Europe’s longest champagne bar.

A writer for the Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/ci_7410252) tried it out at the budget Qbic hotel in Amsterdam, and found it to be an efficient, if a little lonely, experience.

After a one-minute check-in in at the kiosk that required his digital signature, writer Elliott Hester toted his own bag to his spacious, Phillippe Starck-designed room – the hotel has roving concierges, but no font desk staff or bellmen. In lieu of the traditional hotel gift shop/convenience store, Qbic offers vending machines in the lobby which sell everything from toiletries to wine and beer. Hotel guests have free use of a nearby gym, as Qbic doesn’t have a fitness room.
