On the ďproĒ side of checking your bag: Youíll have less hassle at airport security, you donít have fight for overhead space, and you donít have to pack light. On the other hand, if you carry your bag on, the airline canít lose or damage your bag, you have access to your stuff at all times, and you donít have to wait at the baggage carousel when you arrive.

Thumbs up On home soil, a cheery ďthumbs upĒ gesture is universally recognized as a positive sign. But think twice about using it when traveling Ė in Nigeria, for example, itís the same thing as flipping bird, and may get you a far more hostile reaction than youíd hoped.
