WestJet to cancel Vegas flights from Fort McMurray

On Tuesday, WestJet announced that starting August 10, all direct flights from Fort McMurray to Las Vegas were being canceled. The cancelations are due to an unexpected underperformance in bookings between the two cities. The route was launched on June 24 amidst high expectations of bookings, but they’ve been so low that it is no longer feasible for the airline to continue with the service.

Airbus showed off an electric plane at a recent air show; this could introduce cheaper flights

Airbus had a lot of planes to show off at the recent Farnborough International Air Show, but one in particular garnered a lot of interest: the E-Fan 2.0. It’s an electric plane, one of the world’s first with fans that are completely electric. The E-Fan 2.0 is the company’s first step in making an electric commercial plane that will seat 80 to 90 people.

FAA lifts ban on Tel Aviv flights

After a meeting between U.S. and Israel security officials, the Federal Aviation Administration has lifted its ban on all flights to Tel Aviv despite the fighting that is ongoing in Gaza. The FAA imposed the ban on Tuesday after rocket fire hit a small town about a mile from the Ben Gurion International Airport. The ban was lifted at 11:45 pm Wednesday.
