Scandinavian Airlines will be launching new flights between Newcastle Airport and Copenhagen, starting on February 4. This is the third attempt to launch flights successfully between Newcastle and Copenhagen. EasyJet withdrew its service in 2004 and then Cimber Sterling withdrew theirs in 2011. The airport welcomes this third attempt in the hopes that they will bring new opportunities in tourism and business to the area.

Flights at Guernsey Airport were suspended on Monday morning when the door of an aircraft was found open. Normally, all doors a closed and sealed shut, but this one was not. Airport director, Colin Le Ray, said that security checks had to be made before normal operations could resume. Le Ray said that as far as they knew, the aircraft had been worked on overnight. |

For Sunday, the Sunshine Coast Airport has been closed and all flights have been cancelled due to severe weather that is affecting southeast Queensland and is creating strong crosswinds at the airport. General Manager Peter Pallot said that the weather service is forecasting that wind speeds could reach as high as 125 kmh with a risk of tornadoes and there is expected to be 300 mm of rain. The airlines have been consulted and all flights for the day cancelled. |
