Saturday saw the official opening of a new terminal at the Edmonton International Airport. Airport CEO, Reg Milley, said that the new terminal will make Edmontonians think twice before driving to Calgary for a flight. Milley said that they are now a world class city with a world class airport. Now airlines can expand by adding more flights to and from Edmonton. The new terminal is for US flights and it is three times larger than the old one and icludes six US gates, enhanced US border and customs, four brand-name stores, four restaurants, and a two-storey plaza lounge. January has seen an increase of 9% in passengers flying between Edmonton and the US, which is a record high. The airport is planning more expansions, including a 210-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
