There has been a sharp increase in charter flights from China to Malaysia from last year to this year. There were a total of 16 flights in 2010, but this year there have been 77 charter flights according to Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen. She also said that this increase in flights proves that their marketing efforts to attract more tourists to Malaysia has worked. In 2011 Shenzhen Airlines provided 48 charter flights, China Southern provided eight, and Malaysia Airlines provided one. These flights brought a total of more than 16,000 tourists from China, including about 5000 during the Chinese New Year. Their goal is to strengthen the relationship between Malaysia and China and increase tourism in both countries. See the original Google News article for more details. |
