AirBaltic to Cut Flights
Tuesday, 21 February 2012
Latvia's national carrier, airBaltic, is about to cut flights as the state will not furnish the struggling airline with the needed lats to keep the service going as is. The Latvian government says it is too risky to invest in the airline and finance minster Edmunds Krastins, says that airBaltic will have to adopt the model used by Estonian Air.

The current transit model was implemented by previous head of the airline, Bertolt Flick, who implemented the model by attracting customers with low airfares. The number of passengers and the number of flights were growing quickly, but then the airline ran out of money to continue the growth of the airline. The choices now are to continue with the current model, adopt the Estonian Air model. Finding an investor may or may not be an option.
