A new airline is about to take to the skies in Asia and it has set the airline industry in the region on the edge of an airfare war. AirAsia X will begin flights from Sydney to Malaysia and it is offering a number of introductory flights, including Sydney to Kuala Lampur from $99; Phuket, Thailand from $139; and Bali from $149. This new airline follows suit after Scoot, of Singapore Airline, announced it would begin flying from Sydney to Singapore. With AirAsia X offering flights to more than 80 destinations in Asia and has even announced its plan to cut back on flights to Europe and India so that it can focus on the Asian and Australian markets. The new route will also benefit tourism in Sydney. The aircraft flying the route will be an Airbus A330-300 with 365 Economy seats and 12 Premium fly flatbed seats.
