American Airlines has announced the introduction of their new Boarding and Flexibility Package, which is an a la carte-style fee option that is available to passengers at the time of booking. This option will allow passengers to pay an extra fee for in order for them to enjoy priority boarding, increased flexibility in standby options, and discounts in change fees.
The new package is part of the airline's larger You Choice suite of options and services, which is a new brand for American that offers optional services to their passengers. Cory Garner, AA director of merchandising strategy, said that the new package is something that is only offered when the ticket is initially purchased and cannot be bought after that event has taken place. Those corporate travelers who want to take advantage of the package must have their agencies opt into the American Airlines Direct Connect plan, although the use of this plan has caused some controversy with the American Society of Travel Agents and the Business Travel Coalition, who say that it is a way for the airline to charge agencies for content. |
