It is official news that will make Wi-Fi users who travel on Amtrak very happy indeed. The rail company has announced its plans to install free wireless internet service on its Acela Express trains and the launch of this new service is anticipated to be in 2010. In addition to this came the announcement that the Amtrak fleet will be upgraded in the near future. Information was relayed via a conference call and a pdf file containing a related five-year plan. The call and document conveyed included information about the review of mobile wireless technology in the fiscal year ending 2009 and the resulting decision to install WiFi on the Acela Express trains. This new development in technology aboard these trains will allow passengers to access and browse the internet and to check their emails. This will enable them to stay connected whether they are traveling for business or for pleasure and it will set Amtrak apart from other modes of transportation. |
