Online search service Wolfram Alpha, which was launched two years ago, now gives people the ability to find out what aircraft are flying overhead at any time. Simply type “flights overhead” in the search box and the searcher will be able to see information on what flights are flying overhead, their altitude, the airlines operating the flights, the type of aircraft, and the distance of the flight. The information supplied is for aircraft that should be visible to the searcher on a clear day. It will help answer that question that Wolfram Alpha says we have all asked at one time or another when we have seen an aircraft flying overhead, “I wonder where that airplane is going.” For those using a smartphone the search results will be based on latitude and longitude according to the device's GPS.
