You most likely will be flying in to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), if so, you can save time by booking a private comfortable and efficient airport transfer from the airport to your hotel before you land in Thailand. Once you have reached the city, buses are plentiful and inexpensive. Many micro-buses operate throughout the city and there is a two-line Skytrain monorail located in central Bangkok which utilizes modern air-conditioned cars which run on electricity. Taxis are plentiful and haggling on price usually works well. For the more adventurous, three-wheeled tuk-tuks are popular, but they tend to be a bit more expensive (and more dangerous) then taxis.
If you plan on driving when you visit, please be advised that an international driving permit is required and that traffic drives on the left.
Make sure to pack an adapter for your electronics as the country runs on 220V.
