Be Careful Using Wi-Fi At The Airport
Tuesday, 25 November 2008
Image Most people don't have any idea how incredibly unsecured the Wi-Fi is at most airports. Here's a valuable tip: NEVER EVER do online banking or any other form of secure transaction via Wi-Fi in any public spot - especially airports. The bad guys are listening and they will get your data, no matter what you think.

The problem is that many people do not know when they are being monitored and current Wi-Fi security is easily hacked by crooks. If you must access your bank account get a broadband modem or something similar that does not use Wi-Fi. Oh, one other thing, BlueTooth isn't that secure either, so that intimate phone call you are making may not be as private as you might think.

Recently, Forbes.com had an excellent article on the subject which you can find here.

If you are really concerned about security, turn off your Wi-Fi AND your BlueTooth when traveling until you get to a location that has their wireless connection behind rock solid protection.
