In April 2011 a survey was conducted by the International Quality & Productivity Centre and it was determined that almost 70% of those surveyed agree that the most important area for improvement in airline security is in the security of cargo coming from the Middle East. In essence, the current cargo security standards do not match those of passenger security and this must change, especially in light of the fact that the Middle East desires to be a hub for the transport of cargo. At the 3rd Annual Aviation Security Meeting held in Dubai this past September, experts in aviation security will discuss ways to improve the security of cargo shipments. One of the most important contributors to this discussion will be Amhed Al Haddabi, SVP Airport Operations for Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC). He will be able to share with the gathered professionals how ADAC upgraded their cargo security measures to comply with the most up-to-date version of the ICAO Annex 17. |
