The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has ordered Air Canada and WestJet Airlines to either create a cat-free buffer zone on their flights or ban cats on flights altogether. This comes after a ruling that was made last year that those who suffer from severe cat allergies are disabled and must be accommodated. The cat-free buffer zone must be an area of the aircraft with upgraded air circulation that will allow allergic passengers to ride in comfort. The original decision of the CTA was made in February 2010, at which time they said that they would take the time needed to determine what would be appropriate accommodation for passengers who are allergic to cats. The airlines now have 30 days from Thursday in which to inform the CTA of their choice as to how they will provide appropriate accommodation. See the original Google News article for more details. |
