Economy just got better with Delta Air Lines. In the summer of 2011, the airlines is adding a premium economy class section called Economy Comfort to all its long distance international flights. The new class will feature seats that have an additional 50% recline and and extra 4 inches of leg room, making for a more relaxed and comfortable long flight. Passengers in this section will also receive more complimentary spirits, inflight entertainment, blankets, pillows, and more. This upgrade is similar to what is offered by Delta's joint venture partner Air France-KLM. By the summer, the new seating will be installed int he first few rows of the Economy Class section of over 160 Boeing 747, 757, 767, and 777 aircraft. There will be an extra cost for passengers booking Economy Comfort of between $80 and $160 one-way. However, customers who are members of SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallions programs can have complimentary access to the Economy Comfort seats and Gold and Silver Medallion members will receive and 50% and 25% discount off these seats respectively. |
