Starting in June, Delta Airlines will be adding nonstop flights to Honolulu from both Detroit and San Diego. These flights represent the very first Delta flights from San Diego to Honolulu and also serve to reinstate nonstop service from Detroit to Honolulu. Delta's senior vice president - Network Planning, Bob Cortelyou, said that this new service fills a demand that simply wasn't present before, but now it will allow people in the eastern U.S. and Canada easier access to Hawaii.
Delta Airlines is a leading carrier to Hawaii, with 106 flights per week and five daily flights to four Hawaiian destinations from the Los Angeles International Airport. Aside from the new nonstop flights from Detroit and San Diego, people who live in those areas and want to access other parts of Hawaii can do so from Los Angeles. The new flights will be operated on a Boeing 737 and an Airbus 330 and will include both First Class and Economy seating. |
