Details On Princess Cruises' 2011-12 Panama Canal Season
Thursday, 02 September 2010
The Panama Canal is a world-famous feat of engineering and Princess Cruises has brought the Panama Canal to its passengers for many years. The 2011-2012 season is no exception to this as Princess Cruises is offering 38 cruises to the Panama Canal with five different itineraries to entice any traveler.

The Panama Canal has a unique history that makes it an ideal tourist destination. The Canal was the largest and most expensive construction project for the U.S. at the time. It cost $375 million and took more than 30 years to complete. These days about 14,000 ships travel the Canal each year and the canal system holds 52 million gallons of water on average and lifts and lowers ships 170 feet with its locks system.

Princess Cruises has two ships, the Island Princess and the Coral Princess, that are designed for Canal travel. The itineraries include 2 days on the Canal, which includes visits to Miraflores, Pedro Miguel, Gatun Locks, and Fuerte Amador in Panama. The itineraries also include destinations in the Caribbean islands and the Mexican Riviera.
