The Shanghai Disney Resort is on its way and the ground has been broken for the construction of this newest member of the Disney family. The Walt Disney Company has partnered with the Shanghai Shendi Group to create the new amusement park, which will combine the Disney Magic Kingdom style with new rides and attractions that are geared toward the Chinese culture. President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger, says that the groundbreaking represents a significant milestone in the history of the Walt Disney Company. The groundbreaking ceremony was celebrated with traditional Chinese entertainment that included a Mandarin soloist, a Shanghai children's choir, and Mickey Mouse dressed in a traditional Chinese costume. The park will be made up of several themed lands and, of course, an interactive version of the Disney Castle and an 11 acre green space will be at the center of it all. |
