Emirates Faces New Obstacles with Their India Flights
Monday, 04 March 2013
Emirates is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world and they have plans to launch new flights to India to meet the growing demand. However, they have hit a snag, according to airline president, Tim Clark. Clark has said the obstacles they face are on the Indian sub-continent and they have nothing to do with funding. The fleet expansion has no funding issues and they expect to increase revenue by 18%-20% during the current fiscal year.

Clark said that India is a very important market, but that they are having trouble opening up new flight destinations to the country. He adds that the governments of both countries are working very hard to remove those obstacles. A recent study showed that Emirates contributes close to $596 million to the Indian economy every year and they employ more than 1000 people in India. The airline’s operations also indirectly support more than 72,000 jobs in India.
