The ban on liquids within the European Union will remain in effect until April 29, 2013. This means another 3 years of not being able to bring drinks, hand creams, toiletries, and other liquids on board and the ban affects anyone traveling into and within the European Union. The ban is an important step in ensuring airport security by eliminating the potential threat of liquid bombs being brought on board an aircraft. With the ban in place, all travelers will be required to dispose of any and all liquids that are in excess of 100 ml (3.3 U.S. ounces) and this includes gels and aerosols. When it comes to duty-free purchases, these may be taken on board if they are packed in a sealed bag and if the traveler has the receipt that proves where the items were purchased.
