Europe Beats Alaska As Cruise Destination for 2011
Tuesday, 01 February 2011
Expectations for the 2011 cruise season is that more people will choose Europe as a destination over Alaska. This estimate is based on booking numbers that were released by Cruise Holidays, which is the oldest cruise holiday specialist in North America. Mediterranean cruises are in second place, with Alaska coming in at a close third place.

So what is drawing people to Europe? Maybe it is the incredible value that is available in a European vacation right now. Europe places second when it comes to value, beat out by the Caribbean, according to travel experts who were polled. In fact, the average cost of a Mediterranean cruise has dropped steadily since 2009 and the average daily cost of a vacation in any stateroom category on Mediterranean cruises has fallen from $262 to $222. In addition, the length of time between when the booking is made and when the cruise departs has been lengthening since 2010, with 48.8% of people having booked their cruise at least 6 months in advance in 2010. It is recommended that people who wish to travel book their cruise early.
