Can unaccompanied children use consolidator flights?

No.

Unaccompanied children's flight tickets must be purchased directly from the airlines or from a licensed travel agency other then one that deals ONLY in consolidator flights such as bargaintravel.com. This is because the airline needs to have important questions about the child traveling as part of the purchase process. The airline also must confirm with the responsible representative of the child traveling that they know and understand which responsibilities the airline does and does not have with their child.

Most airlines consider a child to be between 2 and 11 years old. Children 12 and over are not considered unaccompanied children, they are considered unaccompanied minors. If the child is over 12, you need to purchase an adult ticket, then contact the airlines so that they can inform you of the steps you need to take regarding pick up and transfer services.

Occasionally, there will be an extra fee for services rendered to unaccompanied minors. If you are unsure about this, please contact the airline directly.
