In an effort to revive the travel and tourism industry in Thailand, the Royal Thai Government has decided to extend by one year the exemption of tourist visa fees. This extension will last until March 4, 2010 and will apply to all international visitors who arrive via international airports. It will also include all travelers applying for tourist visas at Thai embassies and consulates around the world.Presently, the Royal Thai Government allows visitors from 42 countries to stay in Thailand visa-free for a maximum of 30 days and visitors from 20 other countries to stay for a maximum of 15 days on a tourist visa. If travelers wish to stay longer, they must apply for a visa in advance of their trip at a Thai embassy or consulate or a Thai diplomatic mission. The fee exemption covers the fees for all of these types of visas, even those for extended stays. |
