On Thursday the Transportation Department reported that despite the fact that airlines experienced fewer flight delays and cancelations in November, passengers still had plenty of complaints regarding airline service. In November only two aircraft were delayed on the tarmac longer than the government regulation, compared to 18 in October. These two flights were heading for Los Angeles, where severe storms were brewing. In addition, airlines did a better job at arriving on time in November. There was an average on-time arrival rate of 85.3% for the 16 major airlines, up from 82.2% in November 2010. There were the same number of flight cancelations between November 2011 and November 2010 at 0.7%. The most on-time airline was Hawaiian Airlines, but then they have the best weather, and Delta and Southwest. The least on-time were American, ExpressJet, and SkyWest.
