Leaders in the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) were invited to take place in Alaska Airline's inaugural biofuels flight on November 9, 2011. The flight is scheduled to fly from Seattle to Washington and the AFA is applauding Alaska Airlines as well as Horizon Airlines and United/Continental Airlines for being the first three airlines to take the leap to more environmentally-friendly flights. The AFA said that their flight attendants are proud to be a part of the new biofuel initiative, which is decreasing their dependance on foreign fossil fuels, helping reduce carbon emissions, and providing green jobs. The AFA is calling on Congress to pass a bill that will authorize the streamlining of research and development of advanced biofuels. See the original Google News article for more details. |
