An ongoing strike of the security staff in France has caused delays and cancelations. Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport delayed a number of flights today and a third of flights out of Lyon’s Saint-Exupery airport were canceled as the strike moves into its fourth day. As the holiday season begins and schools are out, the security staff is striking as the demand higher wages. Valerie Pecresse, a spokeswoman for the government, said that the striking workers are “taking the French hostage as they go on holiday.” Talks that happened yesterday between the workers and management failed to produce any signs of an agreement. The average delay at security in Terminal 2 in the Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is 45 minutes. Paul Moore, a spokesman for EasyJet, an airline based in Luton, England, said their goal was to get people home for Christmas. The airlines had canceled flights on previous days, but planned on operating on a full schedule today. See the original Google News article for more details. |
